IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Abbey Kay
Bryce
September 12, 1993 – October 10, 2023
Abbey Kay Bryce, beloved mother, sister, and daughter passed peacefully into eternity surrounded by her family on October 10, 2023, in Highland, Utah, following a valiant two-year battle with cancer. She was 30 years old.
Abbey was born on September 12, 1993, in St. George, Utah, the third of eight siblings. She spent her childhood in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and on her grandparent's farm in Hurricane, Utah, where she made many fond memories with cousins. At elementary school she often befriended the child who felt most isolated and unloved. She exhibited this trait throughout her life, and her easy kindness and gentle soul touched many.
Abbey's teenage years were spent in Highland, Utah where she attended Lone Peak High School, participated in choir, and gained lifelong friends. During these years she showed a zest and enthusiasm for life and dreamed of a future full of endless possibilities. She was close to her sister Anna and together they came of age in the midst of dear friends, gazing at stars on warm summer nights. Abbey's talent for singing, which was evident from the time she was a child, blossomed during these years. She often performed live and later recorded songs that are a great treasure to her family. Her angelic voice melted hearts and brought listeners to tears.
Abbey was inspired by beauty and left touches of it everywhere she went. She majored in Art History at BYU to develop her natural gifts and elevate her understanding of the world through art. She enjoyed interior design and collected unique pieces of art, furniture, and fine decor to beautify her home and those of loved ones. She carried herself with dignity and aspired to become a woman of sophistication and grace. She understood the power of elegance to lift souls to a higher plane and purpose, and gifted to members of her family a treasured legacy of beauty and refinement.
Abbey's greatest loves were her children, Pepper, Gigi, and Violet. Her heart's fondest wish was for them to grow into strong, self-assured women who recognize their inherent worth. Her deepest sorrow was that she would not live to see those dreams fulfilled. She did all she could to prepare her family to help her girls grow into the wonderful women she envisioned. She promised her children that she would watch over them as an angel, especially during the most trying times of their lives.
Abbey shared her cancer journey on social media and gained a large supportive community. Her gentle spirit and inspiring words touched people across the world who hoped and prayed for her recovery. She felt strengthened by the outpouring of support she received and grateful that her story had helped others.
During the two years of her battle with cancer, Abbey lived in bright hope for healing. She found respite on the island of Hawaii, where she beautified a home as a special sanctuary for herself and her family. During these precious years, she drew her beloved daughters, family, and especially her sisters closer than ever and they enjoyed many meaningful experiences together. The memory of these special times and closeness with Abbey will forever be cherished.
Abbey let suffering teach and refine her. In her extremity, she discovered her truth, her inner strength, a character forged in the fire of adversity. She said then that God had changed her. He had shown her who she was, his daughter, and how much he loved her. He had made her heart as gold.
Abbey's legacy will be carried on by her children, Pepper (8), Gigi (6), and Violet (2), her father David Jorgen Bryce, mother Angelyn Stout Adams, and siblings Rick (Andrea), Anna (Taylor), Rex, Emerald, Megan, John, and Joseph, along with a large extended family.
A funeral in honor of Abbey will take place at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the LDS Chapel located at 5335 W 11200 N, Highland, Utah. A private visitation for extended family members will be held from 8:30-9:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the same location. A public open house visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, located at 646 E. 800 N., Orem, Utah. Abbey will be laid to rest at the Highland City cemetery.
