Acel Haslem, age 93, of Orem Utah passed away on May 12, 2018.  He was born to John Henry Haslem and Rebecca Alice Hartle on May 3, 1925.  As a child he was raised on his father's farm where he learned the value and benefit of hard work.  He was drafted into the army during the 2 nd World War and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds he received in the Philippines.       He married Oral Rasmussen on June 30, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.  He graduated from BYU and worked for many years at the Geneva Steel Plant in Orem.      He was a faithful member of the LDS church and served a mission with his wife in Tacoma, Washington after they retired.  He was a dedicated gardener who continued gardening through age 92 for the benefit of sharing his produce with others.       He had a great love for his family who he referred to as his "jewels".  He was a faithful husband, father, son, brother, and grandparent.  He was dearly loved by his large extended family and will be sorely missed.     He is survived by his children, four daughters and two sons, thirty-two grandchildren, many great grandchildren.      He is preceded in death by his parents Rebecca and John Haslem and his sweetheart Oral who he was anxious to join.      A viewing will be held on Saturday May 19 th at 9:00 AM at the LDS chapel on 810 East 600 North, Orem, Utah.  Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in Orem City Cemetery with Military Rites.
