Alauna Joy Hyland, 69, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, passed away from complications of open heart surgery Sunday, January 19th, 2020, in Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by her family.
Alauna was born on September 20th, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Junior Gebhardt and Alene (Mecham) Gebhardt. She was sealed to Wilson J Heiselt and Alene (Mecham) Heiselt in the Salt Lake Temple on January 24th, 1964.
Alauna grew up in Lehi, Utah and graduated from Lehi High School in 1968. She was involved in student council, colorguard and softball. After graduation, she became a bank teller at State Bank of Lehi in Lehi, Utah. She furthered her education at LDS Business College until she was married in 1971, and then became a stay at home mom to her three children.
First came Jeff, then Misti and Scott. They were the love of her life and she would do anything for her children. After Scott her youngest started elementary school, she started a profession in banking. She worked for First Security Bank/Wells Fargo as a teller and banker from 1983-2010 when she retired.
Alauna married her eternal companion, Gary J. Hyland, on September 7th, 2001 and later was sealed to him for time and all eternity on August 9th, 2009, in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. They loved going camping, fishing, hiking, dancing and traveling together. She had many talents including sewing, crocheting, painting and making her grandkids smile. She will be sorely missed by all her family and friends.
Alauna is survived by her husband Gary J Hyland of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Son, Jeffery Michael and (Angela) Duke of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Daughter, Misti Ann Duke of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Step-Daughter, Raelle Joy and (Antonio) Alvarez of Redmond, Oregon, Step-Son, Jeremy James and (Natalie) Hyland of Provo, Utah, Step-Son, Ryan J. and (Kim) Hyland of Ogden, Utah, Brother, Bill and (Carol) Gough of Pleasant Grove, Brother, Jay and (Lori) Heiselt of Lehi, Utah, Sister, Nadine and (Mike) Ellis of Lehi, Utah, Brother, Danny and (Denise) Heiselt, 9 grandchildren, Kenzie Alauna Duke, Carly Rachel Duke, Abbey Joy Duke, Gabriella Scott Duke-Montgomery, Riley Anne Duke, Deandre Nicholas Alvarez, Grant Ryan Hyland, Carson Andy Hyland, Porter Brian Hyland, as well as many Sister and Brother-in laws. Preceded in death by her parents, Wilson J. and Alene Mecham Heiselt, Son, Scott James Duke and grandson, Lincoln J. Hyland.
Funeral Services will be Friday January 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Canyon View 10th Ward Chapel 762 East 1200 North, Orem. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 9:00-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery 1520 North 800 East.
