Obituary

It is with great sorrow, the announcement of Tim Tangren's passing. An amazing husband, father, uncle, and friend, dearly loved by those who knew him. Talented, honest, hard-working, kind, generous, honorable. We are so blessed to have him in our lives, and we look forward to reuniting with him through Christ, as the Bible speaks of death as just a transition.

Tim was born to Hugh and Beth Tangren, the sixth of seven children. He attended Frankin Elementary, Dixon Middle School, and Provo High.

He met his future wife, Linda, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Provo while they were teens. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army (3rd Batallion, 9th Field Artillery, Persian Missile Unit), Tim and Linda reunited, married, and were happily together for over 40 years. Many joys and sorrows only brought them closer together. After the devastating loss of baby daughter Lisa, they were ecstatic upon the birth of son Richard, their miracle preemie baby! The apple of dad's eye!

As a gifted musician, he played bass guitar, rhythm guitar, and the accordion (especially worship music and Christmas carols). As a Bible believer, his faith in God was unwavering. He was part of the Worship Team at Harvest Fellowship in American Fork and The Way in Provo. In addition, he played in the Righteous Blues Brothers Band (with David Hendrix and Tom Wyatt) and Classic Rewind (with David Hendrix and Beau Crose).

Initially working in construction, helping to build the Hunter Powerplant and IPP in Delta, Tim was employed by Provo City and retired from the Water Department, Waste Water Division. He went on to work summers for Spanish Fork City, Waste Water Division. When he was not working or playing music, he enjoyed camping, treasure hunting, wood working, mechanics, home improvement projects, and gardening. He loved a good adventure and was blessed to take two flights on the Sentimental Journey B17; once in Provo, and once in Heber. In addition, he had a love of classic cars and could be seen around town in his '42 Willys Jeep and '58 Chevrolet. He loved to travel and took his family camping, on road trips, to Disneyland and Hawaii several times.

Tim is survived by his wife and son; Glenn Tangren; Tammy Wilson; David Hendrix; Diane Sibson; Earl and Jessica Fowler; Scott and Vivian Bishop; Laura Ferre; Lawrence Ferre; Bill and JoAnn Proctor; Dave and Debbie Riley; and several very, very special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Mike Tangren and Kelly Tangren; sisters Kathy Christensen and Dixie Walsh; baby Lisa; Evonne Carlson; and nephew Tarin Guerrero.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, April 20, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a short service to follow at 1:00 p.m. (dress is casual, come as you are), at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 85 East 300 South, Provo.

A special thank you to Provo City Fire & Rescue, Provo City Police Department, and Utah Valley Hospital for the tender care and treatment provided. Take the time to thank a Veteran, a police officer, a first responder, a health care worker, and a City Employee for their service. And always, always, kiss your mate goodnight; only God knows what tomorrow may bring.

"Finally, when there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing" (2 Timothy 4:8).
