IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anna Loy King
Jolley
May 24, 1929 – September 17, 2025
Loy (King) Jolley
May 24, 1929 – September 17, 2025
Surrounded by her loving family, Anna "Loy" (King) Jolley peacefully passed away at her home in Elk Ridge, Utah and was warmly received by those who loved her on the other side of the veil, on Wednesday evening, September 17, 2025. Loy endured right up until the end of her 96-year mortal mission as a valiant and wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother.
Loy was born on May 24, 1929, in Mona, Utah to her mother, Violet Estella (Yates) King and her father Raymond King. She was the fifth child in her family that consisted of her parents and 8 children.
From eldest to youngest her siblings included older brothers, Mark and Ned; older sisters, Jean and Shirley; and younger sisters, Verna, Marsha and Bonnie. All of Loy's siblings preceded her in death.
Their father passed away when Loy was only 6 years old. Their diligent mother moved from Mona to Provo and raised 8 children alone until she was remarried to Ralph B. Johnson when Loy was in junior high.
Loy attended Maeser Elementary school, Farrer Junior High school, and Provo High School. She acquired secretarial skills through attending college courses.
Loy married her sweetheart, Kendall Manning Jolley, of Orem, Utah on December 7, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS temple on July 2, 1963. Kendall was employed by U.S. Steel Geneva Works in Orem, Utah. They raised their family in a home they built early in their marriage located in north Orem, Utah until they relocated to Elk Ridge, Utah in 1976, where Loy has resided to the present time. After 59 years of marriage, Loy's beloved husband, Kendall, passed away in 2008 at the age of 79.
Loy and Kendall were blessed with 6 children (all surviving): Kathy Blake, currently residing in Little Elm, Texas; Sharee Lynn Andrew (Douglas), currently residing in Holladay, Utah; Kendall Ray Jolley (KellyVee), currently residing in Mona, Utah; Quintin King Jolley (Betty), currently residing in South Jordan, Utah; Vint Manning Jolley, currently residing in Elk Ridge, Utah; and Lacey Loy Jolley, currently residing in South Jordan, Utah.
Loy had a superior talent as a seamstress, and she multiplied that talent throughout her life. Early in life, she refused to take her older sister's hand-me-downs "as is" but rather altered and embellished them to be like new. She made all her children's school, play and church clothing and their outfits were the envy of their friends. Loy could sew complex designs from just a picture in a catalog for her children's school dances and she custom-made approximately 100 wedding dresses and numerous outfits for Orem High School's Cheer/Song Leaders and Tigerette drill team. She also worked as a seamstress at Quigley's Leather Clothing in Provo, Utah.
Although having been raised under very humble circumstances by a single mother during the Great Depression, Loy never considered her family as being "poor". But early in life she learned how to be frugal—from cloth and thread to canning fruits and vegetables. She worked alongside her husband and six children in their orchard, vegetable garden and pasture. She would preserve all kinds of fruits and vegetables from May to October, including hundreds of quarts of grape juice, fruit jams, pickles and even tomato ketchup.
Later in her life, Loy took up painting and thoroughly enjoyed creating several beautiful paintings, primarily using the medium of oil paint, but also painted using watercolor. Loy's art adorned her home and will be treasured by her posterity for many generations.
Loy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently in many capacities including in the Primary, Young Women and both Ward and Stake Relief Society organizations. Later in life, Loy loved serving as an ordinance worker at the Provo, Utah LDS temple.
Loy was a defender of truth and right and was very strong in her convictions and beliefs. Paramount among her unique abilities was her willingness to give unselfishly of her time and talents in service to her children, grandchildren and others which she embraced as simply service to her God.
Loy is survived by her six children, 33 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and 11 great, great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express gratitude to her caregivers, especially Becky Diamond, who kindly assisted the family in taking care of Loy for the past several years.
We will honor and celebrate Loy's life with cherished memories shared by her children at her memorial service which will be held on Tuesday, September 30 beginning at 11:00AM, at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home located at 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah 84097. There will be a morning Visitation from 9:45AM to 10:45AM prior to the funeral. Loy will be interred next to her husband, Kendall, at the Orem Cemetery.
