Obituary

Anna Lou Judd Patten 1932 - 2022 Anna Lou Patten, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Lindon, Utah on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Anna was born in Ogden, Utah on July 17, 1932 to Myles and Lorna Hutchings Judd. At the tender age of four, her father was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Her mother later married Charles Masterson of Missouri. She grew up in Payson and Orem, Utah. She graduated in 1950 from Lincoln High School in Orem. Anna Lou attended Utah Technical College and was in the first graduating nursing class. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at St. Mark's Hospital in SLC, Utah. She was married and sealed to Ezra Billings "Bud" Patten on September 11, 1951 in the Manti, Utah Temple. Together, they raised eight children, of which seven survive them: Dr. Judd (Ikuko) Patten, Baton Rouge, LA; K. Shawn Patten (SuneNeem) Patten, Spanish Fork, UT; Chad Patten, Lehi, UT; Clinton Patten, Parowan, UT; Darren (DeAnn) Patten, South Jordan, UT; Kestin (Brock) Wilkinson, Orem, UT; Jennifer (Mike) Watson, Lindon, UT. and 27 Grandchildren and 38 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters; Donna Harris, American Fork, UT and Carole Colledge, American Fork, UT. She is preceded in passing by her husband, Ezra "Bud" Patten, her son, Phillip Patten, and brothers, Myles Judd and Ron Masterson. Anna Lou volunteered for decades in cub scouting and troop, district, council and executive positions in the Boy Scouts of America. All of her six sons earned their Eagle Scout award. In honor of her 35 years of dedicated service, Anna received a Silver Beaver award from the Utah National Parks Council. She also received the 2nd Miler Award and pioneered the Varsity Scouting Program. Anna Lou, along with her husband, carried a deep love for music and enjoyed singing together as a duet for many functions and programs. She loved singing and directing in her ward choir, DUP group and The Orem Chaunenettes. Anna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an avid reader and particularly loved studying the scriptures. Teaching Gospel Doctrine class was her favorite church responsibility. She also loved researching family history and genealogy work. She was an active member of the Zion's Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She and Bud served an LDS senior mission together in the Puerto Rico/St. Thomas Mission of the Caribbean. They loved their time serving together and the people of the island. Anna and Bud strongly believed in being self-sufficient, gaining an education and teaching their descendants the value and rewards of hard work and perseverance. Her greatest accomplishment and fulfillment in life was nurturing, teaching, and raising her eight children. Her fun nature and laughter were contagious as she filled our homes with that joy.She will be greatly missed and remembered in the hearts of many. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Chapel located on 731 East (Canal Road) Center Street in Lindon, Utah. Friends and family may call at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E 800 N Orem, Utah on Friday evening, January 7, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the LDS Chapel on Saturday morning from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Graveside Services will follow at the Orem City Cemetery.
