Obituary

Annalene Wiberg Swenson

1932 – 2022

Annalene Wiberg Swenson, age (almost) 90, died on November 3, 2022 at her home in Draper, Utah surrounded by her family.

The youngest of 8 children, she was born on November 12, 1932 in Riverton, Utah to John I. and Marchell Page Wiberg.

While still a Senior at Davis High School, she became engaged to Max Webster Swenson and shortly following her graduation, the two were married in the Logan Temple on June 26, 1951.

Almost immediately, Max and Annalene began growing their family and embarked on what would become a lifetime of travel and adventure. As a young family they moved many places in the U.S. following education and employment opportunities. In 1958, with 4 young children (and expecting a 5th), they hopped on a ship and moved halfway around the world to Temple View, New Zealand to help establish the new Church College of New Zealand. They lived there for 4½ years and added children #5 & #6 during this time.

They eventually returned to Provo, Utah and added child #7 while there. Yet another employment opportunity landed them in Boulder, CO where they rounded out their family of 4 boys and 4 girls with child #8. They ultimately settled in Orem, Utah where they spent the majority of the remainder of their lives.

Annalene was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a self-proclaimed Missionary Work Addict. Together with her husband, they served full-time missions in Ghana/Sierra Leone, Laos and The Phillippines. They also Provided leadership service in remote areas of Alaska. Upon Max's death, she continued the tradition and served a full-time mission in Dallas, TX.

One of her longest and most cherished friendships was with her group of "walking ladies" with whom she enjoyed morning walks for nearly 30 years. She also enjoyed the occasional 5K or 10K, which brought out her competitive nature and earned her several medals that she wore proudly.

In all, her travels saw her visit over 30 different countries and all 50 states.

Annalene is survived by her eight children and their spouses: Max Swenson of Anchorage, Alaska; Peggy Redd of Draper, Utah; Debby Shakespeare of Spokane Valley, Washington; Sherilyn Heywood of Mesa, Arizona; Bob Swenson of Springville, Utah; Gary Swenson of Rancho Mirage, California; Connie Kumpf of Castle Rock, Colorado and Mark Swenson of Pasadena, California. She leaves behind 34 Grandchildren and 51 Great-Grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11am followed by a Life Celebration from 12:30 – 1:30p. Interment immediately following at the Orem City Cemetery.
