Obituary

Austin Bard Hill Austin Bard Hill, beloved husband, dad, and grandfather, passed away February 1, 2022, at the age of 74, in his home in Orem, Utah, after a long valiant battle with Leukemia. Bard was born in Blackfoot, Idaho, on May 15, 1947, to Milford Austin and Esther Ellen Hill. He was the oldest of three boys, including his brother Kevin Hill, who lives in Inkom, ID, and Marty Hill, who passed away six years ago. Bard enjoyed scouting, riding his horse, and archery as a young boy in Idaho. After graduating from Blackfoot High School, he attended Ricks College. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Central States Mission. After his mission, Bard served in the United States Airforce stationed in Spokane, WA as a survival instructor. He completed his education at BYU Provo, where he met his wife, Claudia. They were sealed in the Manti Temple and were happily married for 43 years. Bard worked in several occupations throughout his life, including as a respiratory therapist at Utah Valley Hospital. He made many lasting friendships with coworkers and patients before retiring in 2013. Bard loved spending time gardening, camping, reading Louis L'Amour, serving others, and playing with his four grandkids, always with his wife by his side. Bard is survived by his wife Claudia, his daughter Tara (Brian, Sara, Michael) of Springville, UT, and son Cameron (Stephanie, Austin, Abel) of Orem, UT. Bard will be celebrated with a visitation on Tuesday, February 8, from 6-8 pm at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home (646 East 800 North, Orem). There will be a service on Wednesday, February 9, from 11 am-12 pm at the Heatheridge LDS Church Building (620 Heather Road, Orem), with a viewing at 10 am. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery immediately following the service.
