Obituary

Avon Lucille (Peterson) Anderson August 25, 1935- July 4, 2019 Avon Anderson passed away peacefully on the 4th of July in Alpine, Utah. She was born in Weiser Idaho, the fourth of five sisters and lived in Salmon, Idaho and Nyssa, Oregon as a girl. After high school she graduated from the BYU nursing program and worked as an RN for 45 years. She held jobs in Utah, California and Washington; working with critical care patients, supervising a 60-bed hospital, and then as a case nurse for the Shelton County Health Department. Avon met Don Anderson while working in Seattle, Washington and they married in March of 1964. They had seven children and settled with their family in Shelton, Washington. They had many opportunities to support the community there and served faithfully as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Avon and Don served a senior couples mission for the church in Birmingham Alabama after retirement and enjoyed their time there. They were stationed in Selma, Alabama their entire mission. They loved to travel the country in their car, visiting family and friends. Avon and Don moved to Utah for the final years of their lives to be close to children and grand children. She will be remembered for her happy personality and love for people. She enjoyed sports of all kinds and could watch any competition and cheer for her favorites. As her health deteriorated, her personality continued to shine. Her family is grateful for the moments we were able to share with her on this earth. We know she has been reunited with her parents, two of her brothers-in-law and her youngest son, Bjorn, who have preceded her in death. Avon is survived by her husband, Donald Coleman Anderson, her sons Olaf (Deborah) Anderson, Thor (Karin) Anderson, Nils (Wendy) Anderson, Lars (Kristi) Anderson, Per (Zandra) Anderson; and her daughter Karen (Jason) Ball; as well as many grandchildren. Avon is also survived by her four sisters: Adrienne Gifford, Elaine Anderson, Angela Waite, and Joy Christensen.
