Barbara Lyn West Carlson, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on March 6, 2019 in Provo Utah.  She was born on April 15, 1929 to Eleroy R. and Lois Hayes West in Pleasant Grove Utah.  She married her sweetheart, Gary Carlson on August 24, 1954 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Growing up in Pleasant Grove she was taught the values of hard work, independence and self discipline.  She graduated from BYU with a Bachelor's Degree, after which she served a mission to France.  Mom loved sharing the stories of her family and of her pioneer heritage.  She also headed up many family genealogy committees.  She could cook anything, sew anything, grow anything, and paint anything, and her greatest joy was serving her family. Barbara was a woman of strong faith and service and loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  In 1993 she, along with her husband, opened the country of Mongolia to missionary work. She is survived by her husband Gary Carlson, sister Mary Gordon, brother Eleroy (Beth) West, children Reggie (Judy) Carlson, Nancy (Glenn) Gardner, Tom (Tina) Carlson, Elizabeth Thatcher, Jane Perry, seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren Funeral Services will be Tuesday March 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Edgemont 11 th Ward Chapel 3050 Mojave Lane, Provo, Utah.  Friends may visit with the family on Monday March 11, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home 646 East 800 North, Orem or Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  Condolences may be offered to the family at www.walkersanderson.com
