Barbara Jean McLaughlin Hoover Hickman, age 72, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away on January 13, 2024. Barbara was born to Jack & Marlys McLaughlin on February 6, 1951.

Barbara's journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and a profound appreciation for family and friends. Just out of High school, Barbara met and married Jon Hoover, and they embarked on a beautiful journey together when they married in 1972. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Frank, Natalie and Mandy. Following her divorce from Jon, Barbara found love in the arms of Thomas Hickman in 1990. This second chapter of her life brought the joy of six bonus children, Tammy, Robin, Jennifer, Jason, Thomas, and Dustin, expanding her heart with love. Barbara was a hard worker who approached life with an infectious enthusiasm. She found joy in the simple pleasures – camping, fishing, music and exploring new destinations. But above all, Barbara cherished her time spent with family and friends. Her contagious laugh, like a radiant light, would fill the room, and she effortlessly became the life of every gathering because she was so much fun to be around. Her beloved hero and life partner, Tom, stood by her side with unwavering support, tenderly caring for her until the day she peacefully transitioned into the loving embrace of her father, Jack.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. She is survived by her mother, Marlys McLaughlin, her brothers, John McLaughlin (Cindy), & Tom McLaughlin (Leslie) and her children, Frank Hoover (Cheryl), Natalie Stubbs (Bryan), Mandy Hoover, bonus children, Carlee Hoover, Tammy Williams (Hal), Robin Hansen (Craig), Jennifer Hoffman (Dave), Jason Hickman (Ruth), Thomas Hickman (Amy), and Dustin Hickman, as well as her adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a wide circle of family and friends who were touched by her warmth.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Barbara will be held at Emerald Eve Event Center, 192 UT-198, Salem, UT 84653, on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Let us gather to remember and celebrate a life well-lived, a woman dearly loved, and the memories that will forever dance in our hearts.
