Obituary

Dolores Hutchings Zirbes 1934 - 2017 Our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, (Bella) Dolores Hutchings Zirbes, 83, of Provo died peacefully September 10, 2017 surrounded by her family. Mom was born on January 13, 1934 in Shelley, Idaho to Doyal Hutchings and Donna Snelson Hutchins. She was the oldest of four children and the only daughter. She graduated from Springville High School and was a proud Red Devil. Following graduation, she went to live with her aunt in La Crosse, Wisconsin for the summer. It was there she met and fell in love with John (Jack) Zirbes. Mom waited for two years while Dad served in the U.S. Army and faithfully wrote him every day. They were married on February 2, 1955 in Springville, Utah. Mom was instrumental in Dad's conversion to the LDS faith and they were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. They enjoyed raising their children while living in Wisconsin, Minnesota, California, and Utah. Dolores was the mother of five children: Sharon (decease), Debbie, Jeff, Nancy, and Tom. She was also grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 8. Her family was truly the center of her life. Mom loved the gospel and served in many church callings including Relief Society President. Mom and Dad loved to travel and toured the world visiting such places as China, Russia, Europe, and the Holy Land to name a few. She also loved taking her kids and grandkids to Disneyland. Mom was a talented artist and her beautiful paintings hang in the homes of many family members and friends. She worked for several years at Provo Craft. Passionate about celebrating every holiday, Mom would decorate her home to the extreme. Another of her passions were dolls and she had a huge collection of dolls from around the world. A voracious reader, Mom was always looking for the next good book or travel adventure. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Doyal and Donna Hutchings, brother, Lloyd (Buddy) Hutchings, daughter, Sharon Zirbes Bowles, and granddaughter, Cara Bowles. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jack, children, Debbie, Jeff, and Tom all of Orem, and Nancy of Provo, brothers, Farrell (Marla) Hutchings, and Ron Hutchings both of Springville. The family is grateful for the wonderful care Mom received from Encompass Home Health and Hospice as well as the Beehive Home in Orem. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 15, 2017, 11:00 a.m. in the Bonneville 4th Ward, 1289 East 300 South, Provo. Family and friends may visit Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home of PROVO, 85 East 300 South, or Friday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church.
