IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernadean
Cox
June 27, 1933 – December 28, 2022
Bernadean (Bernie) Cox of Provo, Utah passed away peacefully on December 28th 2022 after a short illness.
Bernie was born on June 27, 1933 in Provo, UT to Elva Baum Barney. Shortly after birth her mother passed away from appendicitis.
Bernie was adopted by an older couple when she was just a baby. She attended Maeser Elementary school until she was 9 years old.
Bernie was taken from her parents at the age of 9 and placed into the American Fork training school. This is where Bernie grew up and met the love of her life Johnny who she bought for .25 cents. While at the training school Bernie worked in the kitchen and as a nanny helping to take care of 24 babies. She then cleaned homes and tended children in the area. Her last job was at her Aunt Ethel's Health food store Scheibner's where she worked for many years.
Bernie proposed to Johnny and married her true love on October 4, 1969 in Provo at her Uncle Floyd's home. On March 29, 1970 Bernie and Johnny both chose to be baptized as members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
They were then sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo temple on June 16, 1987
Bernie loved photography, playing the piano, crocheting, coloring, drawing, any animal especially feeding the ducks, BYU Cougars, and her cat April. She made many friends in her life while walking the streets of Provo with Johnny by her side.
Bernie and Johnny moved from American Fork to Provo in 1984 and have lived in Provo since. They have lived at the Provo Housing building for multiple years and have made many friends there.
Bernie is survived by her loving husband Johnny, her cat (April), and her caregiver "Aunt Marcie" (Marsha Jenkins)
The family would like to thank Bernie's nurse Lexi and Cindy from Icare, the staff at both UVRMC and Orchard rehab, Lisa her caseworker, Vicki at Provo housing, LuDean for the car rides, Dr Lloyd for giving Bernie her eye sight back, and the many friends and staff at Provo Housing who have shown their love and support for Bernie.
