Obituary

Betty Clements Ericksen passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the age of 88. She was born on April 1, 1934, on Easter Sunday in American Fork, Utah to Ezra Albert Clements and Elsie Vernetta Savage Clements. Betty was 13 of 15 children. She married her sweetheart, Leo Henry Ericksen Jr. on August 21, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.

She attended school in American Fork, Utah and was later employed at Central Bank. After years of hard work and determination, Betty worked her way up to become an Assistant Trust Officer at the bank. She retired after 25 years of service.

Mom loved music, singing, and dancing. She had a song for every occasion and would often make up her own songs to fit any situation, whether those songs rhymed or not. She saw the beauty in all that Heavenly Father has given us here on Earth and would spend hours watching the hummingbirds outside her window or on her patio. Mom would often call her family members over to the window to point out a beautiful sunset or a full moon. Through her example, she taught her family to appreciate the beauty around them.

Mom loved fishing, crocheting, and playing games, but her greatest joy of all was spending special moments with each of her children, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even her great-great-grandchildren. If there was a baby nearby, she could be found snuggling them and singing to them. Mom would sing lullabies and old songs about chocolate ice cream cones, puppies, and sweet violets that are now sung by her descendants to each of their babies. Mom could find light in the darkest of situations and was always a soft shoulder to cry on and a warm hug for anyone needing comfort or reassurance. She made sure her family knew she was a port in the storm, a solace in times of trouble, for them. Mom was an example of appreciating the smallest joys in life, including her favorite snack- ice cream, which she could never manage to eat without getting it all over her mouth.

Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a strong testimony and love for her Savior. She served at the Mount Timpanogos Temple, alongside her husband until her health no longer permitted her to.

Betty is survived by her children: Allen C. Ericksen, Orem, UT, Lurean Pugh (Leonard), St. George, UT; Leo H. Ericksen III (Denise), Nephi, UT; Karen J. Wright, Ladera Ranch, CA; brother: Leon Clements, Provo, UT; 5 grandchildren: Jason Pugh (Trish), Scott Pugh (Jennifer), Jeremy Pugh (Emily), Courtney Rotz (Ben), Hayley Ohlwiler (Kyle), Hayley Thomas; 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren: Heather Taylor (Ben) Levan, UT; Joshua Brooks (Taryn), Levan, UT; Nathan Brooks (Shalle), Levan, UT; Bridget Parker (Robert), Payson, UT; 17 step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, her parents, 13 siblings, and her great-grandson, Alex Pugh.

We appreciate Dr. Duros and the special care he always gave to our mom throughout the years. He took the time to provide excellent service and was always so kind and thoughtful with her.
