IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brad Stacey
Kunz
February 9, 1958 – May 21, 2024
Brad Stacey Kunz, age 66, passed away peacefully on May 21 2024, in the arms of his beloved wife of 28 years, Carol Leigh Kunz. Brad passed away at the Neuro Restorative Care Center in Riverton, Utah where he lived for the last nine years.
Brad was the third child of six children. He was born on February 9, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Morris David Kunz and the late Viona Fawn Kunz.
Brad always had a positive attitude and a generous heart. He learned his love of flowers and yardwork early in life. He felt joy in the garden.
In October of 1975, the Youth Merit Award presented by the Rotary Club of American Fork was presented to Brad in recognition of his outstanding qualities of service, dependability and leadership. Brad was the first Cub Scout in Lehi, Utah to earn the coveted Webelos Award. Brad holds the rank of an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, guitar and singing.
In High School Brad liked sports. He served as manager and Official Water Boy for both the wrestling and football teams during his Lehi High School years. Brad also participated in several dramatic and musical productions. He was active in agriculture and held membership in the local chapter of the Future Farmers of America. Brad graduated from Lehi High School and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Seminary Program.
In March of 1983, Brad married Nanette Curtis in the Jordan River Temple. They were later divorced.
Brad and Nanette had three wonderful children Ryan, Stacia and Stetson. Brad's children have always been a source of joy to him. Brad loves his family, which now includes eight grandchildren.
Brad has a firm testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and remained an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints throughout his life. Brad served as an officer in his Deacon's and Priest Quorum. He also served as first counselor in his Priest's Quorum.
Brad volunteered at the Bishop's Storehouse. He also taught Sunday School at the Utah State Developmental Center. In 1993, Brad volunteered at the Provo LDS Temple laundry room where he met Carol. Friendship and love blossomed and they were married in Provo, Utah at the Provo Temple in September of 1995.
In 2012, a tracheotomy was performed for Brad. It couldn't be removed. When Brad could no longer be cared for at home he entered the Heritage Care Center as a resident. He later moved to Country Life / Neuro Restorative, in 2015. Family came to Brad. He enjoyed a good game of chess and cards. Brad was an artist at heart. He loved to draw and color.
Eventually, Brad became profoundly deaf. Always moving forward, he and his lovely wife, Carol, took American Sign Language. Brad later received a Cochlear implant. This miracle opened a new world of communication for Brad and those around him.
Brad has always been a thoughtful, caring person. Brad and Carol made hundreds of polar fleece quilts. Many were gifted to family, but their generosity was far-reaching. They donated polar fleece blankets to Primary Children's Hospital, to all of the residents at Heritage and later when he moved to Country Life / Neuro Restorative to the people who lived there.
Brad is survived by his wife Carol Kunz, and his three children Ryan Kunz (Sydnee), Stetson Kunz (Breanne), Stacia Taylor (Jeff) and eight grandchildren.
