Obituary

Brent Lynn Sorensen, 73, returned home Sunday April 2, 2023. He was born in Orem, Utah to Jay and Carol Sorensen. He was the second of four children. Rather than be drafted, Brent enlisted in the Army with his brother Mike. Together they served in the 101st Airborne Division. He returned home and received his Associates degree from Utah Technical College. He spent most of his career working in the energy industry. It was through his hard work, knowledge and ability that guided him to nuclear power plants. There he excelled and was in constant demand.

Brent enjoyed many years of service as a Scoutmaster. He enjoyed being outdoors with his sons and teaching those boys he was responsible for good morals in life. He was an avid fisherman, who loved to take family and friends along. His three daughters had a home in his heart. He cherished and loved them dearly.

Even though he accomplished many things throughout his career, it was his children, and grandchildren that gave him the most pride and joy in life. His love for them never wavered. His greatest memories were made at "papa's cabin" where he was able to enjoy his best moments in life with his children and grandchildren.

Brent had a great love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Those who knew him understood that when he was unable to sleep at night, he was studying the scriptures. He loved his Savior and did his best to be an honorable disciple. His testimony of the gospel was evident in the way he lived his life. If one was lucky enough to hear him bear his testimony, they would know that he spoke with conviction and power.

Brent is preceded in death by his parents Jay and Carol Sorensen, as well as his brother Michael Sorensen, and sister LeeAnne Stanley. He is survived by his wife, Debra, his nine children: Leslie (Don) Johnson, Lorlie (Matt) Evans, James (Amberlee) Sorensen, Marc Sorensen, Dane Sorensen, Christopher (Nichole) Sorensen, Jay (Mackenzie) Sorensen, Britney (Chase) Bowlby, Brett Sorensen, 20 grandchildren; and sister Pauline Lape.

Brent wanted a small funeral service. His wishes were honored. He received military honors and a 21-gun salute for his service in the Army.
