Brian learned to work hard and play hard.
Brian Travis Rogers, passed away Friday, October 30 2026 in Saratoga Springs at the age of 74, after a brief period on hospice following a long struggle to regain his health that began with his liver transplant in 2019.
Brian was born January 22,1952 in Whittier, California to Harry and June Rogers. He and his younger sister Shelley, being just a year apart, always enjoyed a close bond. Brian learned to work hard and play hard. From his dad he learned to love everything mechanical, especially cars. This love grew into not only a career, but his passion and hobby, and showed in his willingness to always help a friend, neighbor, or stranger troubleshoot car problems.
When Brian came to Utah he met his first wife Elaine Dyer while “dragging” state street. He became a big brother to her five sisters. He was there for Elaine when her mom passed shortly before their marriage and continued to be by her side supporting all her ideas and business ventures up until her untimely death. Together they raised three children, Allison, Justine, and Noel. Brian was always at every dance recital, pinewood derby, soccer game, race, and grandparents’ day he could. He even took Elaine’s father, Peter, in for a time during his later years.
Brian enjoyed a long, successful career with UTA, beginning as a diesel mechanic, fixing the buses, and transitioning to electro mechanics to work on the light rail trains. Even once he retired they would still call on Brian and ask for his expertise when they were unable to resolve an issue. He served as union representative and made life-long friends during that time.
After Elaine’s passing, Brian met Monica in 2011, and they were inseparable thereafter. He stepped into the role of stepfather with ease being a loving bonus dad. He once again married into a large family with several sisters, expanding his role as big brother. He remained by Monica’s side as she also lost her parents. He again supported his wife in all her business ideas which is when they opened Six Sisters Deli, where they would host Thanksgiving dinners for those without, and made friends with all who dined with them. His home was always open to those who needed a place to stay, frequently having friends or family stay for any length of time they needed. He would make room for them, and they would become one of the family.
Brian is survived by his children with is first wife, Elaine; Allison (Mike), Justine (Joshua), Noel (Autumn); his wife Monica, and her children Jaquelyn Carter (Teddy), Aaron Riedel (Gwendolyn), Brian Riedel; 20 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine and his son-in-law, Kristopher Taft.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the generous gift of life that their father and husband received from the liver transplant which gave them seven more years with Brian.
