IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brianna Hovik
Tunnell
September 15, 1982 – July 14, 2023
Brianna Hovik Tunnell, our cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister and (she would say, favorite) aunt, as well as chief party planner and head cheerleader passed from this life on Friday, July 14th, 2023, surrounded by family and enveloped in love. For more than a decade she met a variety of serious health challenges, including leukemia, with courage and grace. She fought hard and long until her little body just wore out.
Brianna was born in Provo, Utah, on September 15th, 1982, to Stephen Randall and Vickie Barney Hovik. She grew up in Orem, where she loved life and participated in shenanigans with her brothers and sister. She attended Orem schools and graduated from Orem High School. She made everyone feel like they were her friend because they truly were. She was a champion of the underdog.
Brianna married her loving husband, Quincy M. Tunnell, on October 11, 2003, in the Manti LDS Temple. Wherever they went, they made each house a home. She delighted in her husband and children, celebrating them in every way. Being a full-time mother was what she had always wanted, but because of her health issues, she had to work hard to be able to bring them to earth. Her petite stature belied her belief in going big with everything she did. Her birthday parties and Halloween costumes are the stuff of legend. Quincy made her visions come true as her sous chef, assistant decorator, artist, carpenter, cupcake froster, secret Santa deliverer, and on and on. Loving Brianna could be exhausting but so very much fun.
Brianna's generosity was one of her most defining features. Even during her times of greatest illness, she gave her bright smiles away freely and made a point to keep in touch with others who were having a hard time. Brianna nourished a close and personal relationship with the Lord through prayer, and sought every opportunity to be His hands in blessing others. She was completely devoted to the gospel of Jesus Christ and sought to raise her children in its love and light.
Brianna is survived by her devoted husband, Quincy; her two children, Jace (17) and Mayzie (14); her parents, Steve and Vickie Hovik; her brothers, Joey and Mike (Amber); and her sister, Anissa (Randy) Patten. She also leaves behind her in-laws, Michael and Glenna Tunnell; her sisters-in-law Heather (Dallas) Wall, Holly Carter, and Nikki (Mike) Black; seven nieces, six nephews, one great-nephew; and a large and loving extended family. We weep because we love her and will miss her but are grateful to know that families can be together forever.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, July 29, 11:00 a.m. at the Orchard Stake Center, located at 600 N. 800 E. Orem, UT. Friends and family may come to honor and celebrate this valiant woman on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N., Orem, UT. There will a visitation with the family for guests at 9-10:30 a.m., preceding the funeral.
For those wishing to honor Brianna, may we suggest that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to F.A.R.E. (Food Allergy Research and Education) or the Cancer Foundation. They are both organizations very dear to her heart and ours.
