Bruce Edward Smith passed away on December 6th, 2023. Born on February 16th, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio, Bruce was the youngest child of Roscoe Smith (1924-2014) and Deloras Sowers Smith (1926-1990). Bruce graduated from Northridge High School in 1977, and received a Master's Degree in Finance and a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Wright State University. Bruce had careers in finance and information technology, and always pursued his love of music as a hobby, eventually developing a side business in music. In his younger years he was in several bands, playing everything from rock and roll to big band jazz. He was an incredibly talented drummer and could always set down a steady beat.

A gentle giant with a heart full of love, Bruce's life was dedicated to his wife, his passion for music, and spending time with his grandchildren. Bruce found joy in seeing the beautiful mountains and rugged red rock formations of Utah, where he lived the last years of his life. A man of great intelligence, Bruce always sought to improve his intellectual knowledge and understanding of the world around him. The collective IQ of the Earth has dropped several points with Bruce's passing.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 37 years, Danita Young Smith; devoted son and daughter-in-law Alex Smith and Whittnie Avery; daughter Bonnie Smith; granddaughters Ellie and Avery Smith; brother and sister-in-law David and Denise Smith; nieces and nephews Kevin Smith, Saundra Baughman, and Zach Smith; and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Bruce will be reunited with his parents and dear sister, Donna Smith French, who passed in 2016.

A Celebration of Life service dedicated to Bruce will be held Saturday, December 16th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Church at 56 S 1300 West St, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062. Bruce asked that his ashes be scattered in the mountains he so dearly loved.
