Obituary

Budd Porter passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017. He was born October 1, 1926 in Escalante, Utah to Leland and Mary Roe Porter. He was the fourth of eight children. Budd and his family moved to Provo, Utah in 1943 soon after he graduated from high school. In 1944, he joined the US Navy and served as a baker on the aircraft carrier USS Wake Island for the duration of WWII. On April 21, 1950, Budd married Aloha Rindlisbach of Emmett, Idaho in the Salt Lake Temple. Aloha passed away on April 19, 2013. They are the parents of five children, Cornell (Ruth) of West Valley, UT; Debbie (Stu) of Herriman, UT; Kelvin (Sandy) of South Jordan, UT; Brett (Heidi) of Palmdale, CA and Tracie who passed away in infancy. Budd worked for more than 40 years for Geneva Steel retiring in 1991. He worked as a crossing guard for 17 1/2 years, befriending and teasing many a child. He also served many years as an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including Bishopric, High Council, Young Men's and Sunday School. He is survived by four of his five children; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and his oldest sister, Edith Sharp of Bountiful, UT. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aloha, his daughter Tracie, his parents, sisters Leah Griffin, Berniece Losee and Jackie Griggs, brothers Jay, Burr and Ben. Special thanks to Dr. Bradshaw, Dr. Swenson, Melissa, Elizabeth and Nancy from Revere Health and Leandra, Amy, Annette and Wes from Summit Hospice for their tender loving care in Budd's behalf. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11:00 am in the LDS Chapel, located at 715 South Utah Avenue; Provo, UT. A viewing from 8:30 to 10:30 will precede the funeral. Internment will be at East Lawn Memorial Estates located at 4800 North 650 East; Provo, Utah.
