Obituary

Our dear sweet son, brother, and friend, Caleb Joshua Smith, has returned home to our loving Heavenly Father. He left our arms and back in to our loving Savior's embrace on Sunday, January 13 th , 2019.             Caleb was born June 30, 2001 in American Fork. From an early age Caleb developed a great love for people. He loved to make people laugh and smile. His favorite ways to do this were through acting, singing and when he was old enough to reach the counter, cooking. He used these things to bring great comfort and joy to many.             Caleb loved more than just mere humans, he loved animals, too. Not just cats and dogs, but if it lived and breathed, he loved it and wanted 20 of his own. His zoo, or rather his pet family, consisted of gerbils, gerbils, and more gerbils, fish, exotic birds, bearded dragons, a rabbit, and let's not forget why he was the "Chinchilla Lord", his beloved chinchillas. However, his love wasn't limited to the exotic, there is a beloved dog, Koda, that he loved to snuggle. Though, if we are being really honest, living and breathing really was not a criteria, he did have a pet rock, Jorge!             Caleb was a boy of many passions. From a young age, he was a faithful Harry Potter fan, complete with a vast (36) wands-not to mention many other Harry Potter paraphernalia. He was a proud Hufflepuff, a house that values kindness, patience, loyalty, and dedication, of which Caleb embodied. He loved you, even if you were a muggle.             Caleb was a true showman! He brought much enjoyment to all those around him through his many talents of ballroom dancing, acting, and singing. Even in his sleep, Caleb was singing. Where other teenagers would listen to Rock and Roll or Rap, Caleb could be found singing and jamming to his favorite musicals. When Caleb performed, it truly came from his heart. I think it's safe to say, none of us will ever forget his depiction of The Great Aldolfo! "WHAAAAAT?"             Cooking became an outlet for Caleb's great love and compassion towards anyone in need. It wasn't uncommon for him to show up, with a plate of goodies, at a friend's or loved ones or strangers, for that matter, who needed a little sweetness in their life. No waistline could stand up to Caleb's cooking.              Above all, what Caleb valued most was his family and friends. Centered to his life was the self-imposed task to bring joy and happiness to those around him. Their happiness brought him joy! His awareness of the emotional well being of those around was insurmountable. The one trait that we all will cherish always, is his smile! That smile could light the darkest of rooms or the saddest of spirits! Oh, how many times we all got lost in those beautiful, deep dimples! It is not hard to see, these passions and talents define Caleb as the loving, selfless, kind, sweet, compassionate, gentle, loyal, beautiful person that he is and will always be remembered as. Caleb, has a great love for our Savior and Father in Heaven. We are so very grateful that he is peacefully in their arms. Caleb, we love you and will miss you always! Until we meet again, our sweet Clubby! Caleb is survived by his father (Adam), mother (Marta), brothers (Austin, Darion, and Tristan), sister (Tayla), grandmas (Linda Sanders and Lynne Smith) and many cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends.  He is further survived by his pet family; his chinchillas (Todo and Gus), his dog (Koda), his cockatiel (Arnie), his bearded dragons (Draco and Diablo), and his pet rock (Jorge). He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents (Mike and Billy Broadhead), his grandpas (Bob Smith and Marty Sanders), his cherished chinchillas (Codo, Podo, and Scabbers), his cockatiel (Rufus), and a great heavenly host of gerbils.   Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019, 2:00 p.m., Aspen Stake Center, 945 West 2000 North, Orem.
