Cambell Lee Gish died on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at his home in Pleasant Grove, UT. He was 18 years old and chose to end his life just two months before his 19th birthday.
Cambell was born on July 17, 2000 in American Fork, Utah, to Dan and Kelly Gish. As a child he was always making his three older siblings laugh with his unique dance moves, silly faces, and ridiculously accurate singing of movie soundtracks.
As he grew up, Cambell developed a love for music and had a special place in his heart for the piano. Largely self-taught, Cam's determination and work ethic made it possible for him to learn advanced pieces of music by ear, much to the amazement of his friends and family. Family dinners were often followed by his grandmas requesting (and sometimes demanding) a concert from Cambell. He would roll his eyes, chuckle, and give disclaimers of incompetence before launching into a riveting performance of a Liszt masterpiece, Zelda theme, or "You've Got a Friend in Me".
Cam was an extremely hard worker and had the drive to excel. As an employee, he was constantly trying to improve himself and the places he worked. He was well-liked, highly valued, and known as a person who would give his all to the jobs he undertook.
Cambell had many varied interests and loved to stretch his mind. One of his favorite pastimes was engaging in deep conversations with his brother on subjects like Newtonian physics, and he was always happy to discuss any mind-bending topic. He was also an impressive skier and was proud of his mastery of Sundance Mountain Resort's Bishop's Bowl run as a young teenager. His family has many memories of Cam nonchalantly skiing backward down the slope. His interest in computer games led him to try a huge variety of games, and he would tell anyone who was interested about his latest game discovery.
Cambell is survived by his parents Dan Gish (Nita), and Kelly Gish; his siblings Sunny Johnson (Derek), Crystal Gish, and Gunnar Gish; grandmothers Phyllis Gunderson and Myra Gish and uncle Doug Gish; niece Lucy and nephew Eli; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and his dog Roxy. He is predeceased by his grandfathers Melvin Gish and Keith Hooker; and his uncle Kory Hooker.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the LDS church at 1250 E 200 S, Pleasant Grove, UT. The family will receive visitors from 10:30 - 11 a.m. at the church.
