Carol Noel Gibson Hastings died in a tragic accident in her home on Friday, July 23, 2021 in Provo, Utah, at the age of 62. She was born on December 25, 1958, in Artesia, California, daughter of Randolph Ray Gibson and Mary Jeannette Jewett Gibson. Carol had a talent of communicating with great powers of persuasion, which helped her in her professional career as a salesperson. While attending Lakewood High School in California, she studied GTDC Directories at Long Beach City College between 1974 and 1975. After graduating from high school in 1977, she started to sell ads and soon became a top salesperson. She was able to buy a little sports car at the age of 19. She also attended Brigham Young University and lived at Deseret Towers. She was briefly married to Glen Mark Danielsen between 1980 and 1983. Her professional success helped her provide for her two children as a single parent. She was fortunate to meet Steven Hastings and they were married March 24, 1989, in the Jordan River Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were blessed with three more children and settled down in Provo, Utah. Carol worked as an account executive at Dex One, focusing on Yellow Pages. She was an outstanding professional, who could sell anything with her enthusiastic nature and keen observational skills. She retired from Dex One to spend time with her family. Carol was also active in her callings in her LDS Church ward. She loved her Savior and attended the Temple. Carol loved music and singing, and would never turn down an opportunity to sing karaoke. Carol lived passionately and enjoyed being a collector. Her Beanie Babies and antiques filled much of her home. She was an avid gardener and cook. Her rolls and mashed potatoes were famed, delighting many at her delicious Thanksgiving family gatherings. Carol is survived by her husband, Steve, son David (Felicia) Hastings, daughters Kate Danielsen, Rachel (Jared) Skinner, Carrie Lynne (Ian) Bless, and Rebecca Hastings (Daniel Herrera); eight grandchildren: Lizzie, Paige, Amber, Caleb, Riley, Owen, Eli, and Emi. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Missy Benedict. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the Oak Hills Chapel (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), 1960 N. 1500 E., Provo, Utah 84604. According to her wishes, her remains will be cremated and there will be no burial services at this time. Mortuary services are in the care of Walker Sanderson Funeral Home and Crematory.
