Carolee Douglas Salmans was born September 16, 1934, in Larned, Kansas, to Charlie Nelson Douglas and Delpha Irene Freeman Douglas.
She was the fourth of seven children:
Virginia Mae Lancaster (Fred), Delpha Alene, Thomas Nelson, Dexter Leo, Terry Lynn Hartvigsen(Richard), and Ricky Alan. They have preceded her in death except Terry Lynn.
Growing up, Carolee helped with her younger siblings and was involved in school activities. She played in the band, sang in the choir, and was a cheerleader.
Carolee eloped with her childhood sweetheart, Leland Leslie Salmans, and was married in Clayton, New Mexico, on February 18, 1953. In 1970, they were sealed in the Manti LDS temple. They were together for 64 years before Leland passed away in April 2017.
They had 4 children:
Candise Hoffman(Mack deceased), Dustin Lee (Kristin), Kelly Jo, Stacy Dean (Sally). Carolee is leaving behind 11 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren whom she loved very much. She made sure they all received a birthday card every year.
Carolee started working at age 16 at the ticket counter in Larned's local theater. She worked at the telephone office as an operator. She was a nurse's aide at the local hospital.
After moving to Utah in 1969, she went to work and retired from Mountain Bell. After retirement, she returned to work as a travel agent at Morris Travel. She enjoyed many trips and took Leland on several.
She also raced Leland's race car and won. She was an avid bowler in Kansas and Utah and won many tournaments. She loved to golf and sang with the “Sweet Adelines,” a singing group in Larned, Kansas. She loved hosting parties for family and friends.
With four active children, she was always on the go.
Stinky and Kitten are back together, and she is no longer tired.
There will be a graveside service Monday, November 9th, 2026 at 12 PM at Orem City Cemetery.
