Obituary

Caroline Lance, 74, formerly of Duchesne, Utah, passed away in Phoenix, Arizona surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 6, 2018 after a long and valiant fight with Alzheimer's disease. Caroline was born in Duchesne, Utah on September 7, 1943 to Mary Thompson (Lance) of Vernal, Utah and Gale Alby Lance of Duchesne, Utah. She graduated from Duchesne High School in 1962. Caroline earned a cosmetology degree while living in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1965. She was most proud of her Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Utah State University, where she graduated in August of 1994. She married John Breakfield on December 14, 1962 in Duchesne, Utah. They were married 42 years and raised five children before they divorced. Caroline was a talented artist and enjoyed oil painting mountain scenes. She ran a beauty shop out of her home for many years and enjoyed the friendships she made with her regular clients. Caroline loved to go fishing and to bake, but her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her grandchildren. From trips to the zoo, Diet Coke runs, and countless visits to the Dollar Store she made sure her "babies" knew Grandma loved them. There won't be a Hershey's Kiss or Diet Coke consumed without fond memories of Grandma Caroline. Caroline is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Darrell Lance, Joseph Lance, and Doug Lance; sisters Arlene Wilder, Lucille Dahlberg, and Marla Margets; and grandson Jayce Fieldsted. Caroline is survived by her children: Connie (Keith) Kalmar of Bluffdale; Tammy (Scott) Taylor of Chandler, Arizona; Steve (Staci) Breakfield of Vernal; Angela (Eric) Jones of Chandler, Arizona; and Carolyn (Tyler) Fieldsted of Lehi. She is also survived by siblings Terry Lance and Linda Touchard. Caroline leaves behind a large posterity of 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for the good that she did on this Earth and the compassion that she showed others. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Walker Sanderson funeral home located at 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah. Interment will follow in the Orem Cemetery.
