IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn (Carol) Marie Brown
Bunker
October 9, 1934 – August 9, 2024
Carolyn (Carol) Marie Brown Bunker, of Highland, Utah, passed away suddenly, on August 9, 2024, at the age of 89. Carol exhibited dignity and grace, as she confronted chronic respiratory challenges for nearly 15 years.
Carol was born on October 9, 1934, the daughter of Arnold and Marie Berg Brown, in Salt Lake City, Utah, before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she spent her formative years. She would then return to Utah, where she worked part-time for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, while studying education at Brigham Young University. Carol earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University in 1957.
Carol married Gary Lamond Bunker, her high school sweetheart, in the Salt Lake City Temple, on February 14, 1957, for time and all eternity. Their love story, a marriage that extended more than 67 years, cultivated a stunning family legacy and inspired all acquainted with them.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Carol served with her husband as mission leaders in Antwerp, Belgium and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, from 1981-1984. The couple would complete a full-time mission in Wales as senior missionaries from 2003-2005. Carol served in various church capacities throughout her life, cherishing each calling, particularly opportunities to teach children in the Primary organization.
Carol exalted family above all other mortal joys, demonstrating a selfless focus on blessing her progeny. She loved pictures of family and curated impressive and unrivaled records of photos. "Just one more picture" was a familiar refrain! Carol was a light of genuine love, devoting attention and demonstrating compassion to influence the lives of all with whom she interacted.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tom (Jan); and great-granddaughter, Andi Marvin. She is survived by her sister, Sherry Ulicny (Ron); her husband, Gary; and her nine (9) children: Stephen (Lisa), Kevin (Rachel), Kari Parker (Matthew), Kelli Heaps (Jon), Dana Grossen (Carl), Brooke Hafen (Steve), Brice (Misty), Branden (Brian), and Nathan. Carol's legacy includes 29 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren who all love her dearly.
A service honoring Carol will occur on Saturday, August 17, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will precede the service from 9:00 - 10:30 AM. The services will be held in the chapel at 6722 W. 10400 N., Highland, UT 84003.
