IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn
Leavitt
September 5, 1930 – April 7, 2024
Carolyn Orinna Spurrier Leavitt, 93, of Columbia, Tennessee, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on April 7, 2024.
Carolyn was born on September 5, 1930, to Kenneth and Orinna Brady Spurrier. She grew up in Eureka, Utah, and graduated from Tintic High School in 1948.
Carolyn met Alfred Lloyd Leavitt on a blind date while working at the Eureka movie theater. They fell in love quickly and were soon married..The two of them had 4 children: Susan, Jimi, Michael, and Becky. Carolyn moved 32 times in her married life. She finally settled in Pomona, California, for 18 years and then moved to live with Michael and his family for 20 years in Orem, Utah.
Carolyn loved being a mom and had all the skills one would need to be a great mom. She could sew, cook, bake, decorate, and crochet and she excelled at all of them. She was a hard worker and loved to serve others.
Her longest employment was with Parsons Engineering in Pasadena, California, as a secretary to many engineers. They all loved her and it took 2 people to replace her when she retired at the age of 65.
Carolyn was known as a happy, kind person who was always doing something; never standing still.
In her retirement years, she loved to be a part of Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served in many capacities on the local board.Carolyn loved to travel and her cousin, Joyce Pett, became her best friend and travel companion for years. Everywhere they went together, they dressed exactly the same, even down to the jewelry! Everyone called them twins and they loved it! They had over 20 matching outfits that they could choose from whenever they traveled or went on day trips.
Carolyn had 10 grandchildren that she doted on profusely. Nothing made her happier than to visit with her grandkids.
Carolyn was survived by her daughter, Susan Brown (Jim); son, James "Jimi" Leavitt (Madelon); son, Michael Leavitt (Shelly); and Robin Rebecca Goodman (Sam), 10 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
