Carolyn Newell, our daughter, sister, mother, friend, and girlfriend, passed away on February 4, 2020. She was 45 years old. Carolyn grew up enjoying the companionship of her sisters and best friends, Sandy and SueAnn. Her interests included skiing, astrology, graphic design, and music. She started showing her artistic talent at a young age in drawings and drum sessions. She later became a professional hair dresser and delighted in helping friends and clients find the look that made them feel amazing. Carolyn's life journey also included addiction and recovery. She became an advocate and friend to many others on their own roads to recovery. Her most recent passion project was to start Epic Music for Recovery, with the mission of collecting used instruments to provide the healing power of music to members of the community that are suffering from mental health issues, trauma, and substance abuse. Carolyn is survived by her children, Maya ("Sam") and Erik, whom she loved with her whole heart, and by her mother, Rebecca Jensen. She is preceded in death by her father, Dan Newell. A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home in Orem, Utah.
