Obituary

Chelsea Michelle Gould Tavana, 30, passed away March 4, 2019, at her home in Orem, Utah due to complications from prior health afflictions. Chelsea was born in Murray, Utah on November 22, 1988, the first child of Ben (Jr) and Michelle Gould. Chelsea was amazing. In her short life, she suffered through multiple heart and other surgeries and lived in pain nearly every day. However, despite the challenges, she helped organize and went on humanitarian missions to Kenya, Mexico, Malawi, and Thailand. She also played a key role in many other service projects including the All-Together Playground for special needs and other children at the Orem City Center. In 2007 Chelsea was awarded the Utah Governors Young Humanitarian of the Year Award from then-Governor Jon Huntsman. Chelsea attended school in Orem, Utah including Cascade Elementary School, Canyon View Junior High and was a 2007 graduate from Orem High School where she was involved in student government, Operation Smile, and Youthlinc. She continued her education receiving an associate degree from Dixie State University and a Bachelors degree in Public Health from Brigham Young University. Chelsea was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission in the San Fernando, California Mission. Chelsea met and married Devin Tavana, (son of Tofa Tavana II - Namulau'ulu G. and Fiapapalagi Tavana) the love of her life on January 23, 2016, in the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Draper Temple. Devin and Chelsea were inseparable and deeply in love. Together they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Elliana Kawehi, on January 10, 2018. They are a beautiful eternal family with deep and abiding faith. Chelsea is survived by her husband, Devin, and daughter Elliana, her parents, Ben (Jr) and Michelle Gould, her two siblings Tyler and Hannah (Pisa) Tamanalevu, grandparents Ben and Norma Gould and Haws and Joan Baum, Devin's parents, siblings, their spouses and children whom she deeply loved, and her faithful canine companions Chloe and Sonny. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James Clawson. Chelsea endured her challenges and trials with dignity and grace -now she is free from the pain of her tired body. Her passing was unexpected, but of natural causes of mortality. While we are grateful that we know one day we will be reunited with our precious Chelsea, for now, our family is at a loss of words, a loss of a bright light, and a loss of joy. All who knew her love, admire and adore her precious soul. Viewings will be held on Friday, March 8 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and on Saturday, March 9 from 12:00 - 1:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The viewings and services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Orem Stake Center, 80 South 280 East in Orem, Utah.
