Cheryl Diane Gerke Hover

Cheryl Diane Gerke Hover, 73, passed away very peacefully in her sleep on March 12, 2022. Cheryl was born February 21, 1949 in Pocatello, Idaho to Robert William Gerke and Ethel Maxine Carneal Gerke. She lived in Pocatello for a few years while her father completed Pharmacy School at Idaho State University. She lived briefly in Boulder City, Nevada and then the family moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where she spent the majority of her childhood and teenage years. She graduated from Elmhurst High School.
She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where she met and married her dear eternal companion Thomas Merlin Hover. They were married on February 28, 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple. After Tom's graduation, they moved to St. George, Utah. While there she had two children, Amy Sharie Hover Potts (Brent) and Christopher Thomas Hover (Rose). They lived there for 5 years before moving to Orem, Utah where she had three more children, Cassie Hover Bills (Brent), Carrie Hover Horlacher (Andreas), and Jenny Marie Hover Reimann (Matt).
She has 11 wonderful grandchildren who she loved with all her heart. She is remembered by her grandchildren as being full of gratitude, taking a genuine interest in others by serving them, being a faithful mom and best friend to everyone, providing a safe place where you could be loved unconditionally, and having insurmountable kindness. She also has her first great grandchild on the way.
She was dedicated to the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved and serviced with her whole heart. She will ever be remembered as a best friend to her dear husband, children, mother, grandchildren, and all those who knew her. The world has been forever changed by her passing.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 in the Orem 6th Ward Chapel 365 South 900 East. Orem, Utah Friends may come visit with the family from 9:00-10:45 am prior to the services.
