Chris J. Barbakos passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024 at the age of 96, in Orem Utah. He was born March 5, 1928 in Vineyard, Utah to Chris and Minnie Barbakos.

Chris attended school in Vineyard and Orem and Graduated from Provo High in 1946. During his high school days, he was introduced to Colleen Connelly and fell in love. They dated until Chris was called to the Korean War in 1949. He served for 2 years, while Colleen anxiously waited for his return. They were later married on July, 17 1953 and then sealed for time and all eternity on August 3,1983 in the Provo Temple. They were happily married for over 66 years with Colleen's passing in January 2020.

In 1955 they welcomed their first son Craig, Linda followed in 1956 and Brent finished off the family in 1960.

Chris loved to stay busy and had a great work ethic that he learned by being raised on a dairy farm in Vineyard. He worked at Geneva Steel for over 43 years before retiring in 1986. he always enjoyed working in his yard and planting a large garden every spring and summer. During the winter he and Colleen would travel to Yuma, Arizona and enjoyed making new friends every year and escaping the cold Utah winters. They spent over 30 years traveling together through their retirement.

Chris was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved serving with Colleen in the Provo Temple and Provo Tabernacle for many years.

Chris is survived by his 3 children, Craig (Cindy) Barbakos, Linda Williams, and Brent (Susan) Barbakos. 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife Colleen, his parents and sister Donna (Howard) Points, and son-in-law Weldon Williams.

The family would like to express our thanks to Covington Senior Living Center for their loving care of our father. We would also like to express our gratitude to Belle Vie Hospice for their thoughtful care as well. Especially the patient and loving care from Nate, Jason and Melissa.

A viewing will be held Wednesday Oct 2, 2024, at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North in Orem Utah from 10:30 to 11:30. A graveside service and Interment will follow at the Orem City Cemetery.
