Obituary

Christopher Karl Allman, 36, passed away June 16, 2018 in his home in Chicago, Ill. after a difficult battle with depression. He was born April 16, 1982 as the 5 th child to loving parents Nancy LoChiano Allman and Rick Allman. He spent his grade school years in Orem, UT before moving to Elk Ridge, Utah, graduating from Payson High School in 2000. He spent years in Olympia, Washington graduating in 2010 with a BA in Arts from Evergreen State College. Later moving to Chicago, Illinois and graduating in 2013 with a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Marjorie Pitts Wooden and Darlene Rocks Allman.  He is survived by his parents, grandfather Rocky LoChiano, and siblings Jennifer (Mark) Hedrick, Jodi (Aaron) Thornton, Amy (Adam) Hobson and Ricky (Melissa) Allman as well as 18 nieces and nephews. Chris was a brilliant and visionary artist who worked in sculpture, performance, painting, and music.  He had many exhibitions across the country. His work was featured widely in the media including MTV, Vice Magazine, and more.  Chris had an amazing mind, he was insatiably curious, constantly learning and seeking to understand anything and everything he could.  His ability to consume huge amounts of information, remember it, and synthesize it into beautiful and poetic ideas was astonishing. He had thousands and thousands of ideas, stacks and stacks of sketchbooks filled with sketches, plans, notes and ideas spanning any number of topics from genetics to psychology to architecture to tea. There were very few topics he wasn't extremely well versed on.   He inspired those around him with his incredible sense of humor, kindness, curiosity and willingness to listen and learn without judgment.  Spending time with Chris almost always led to an adventure. He was open and gregarious, friendly with everyone and always sincere. This would lead him to meet fascinating people and end up in the craziest places. Hanging out with Chris often led to the most bizarre, funny and memorable experiences. Chris will be missed by all who knew or knew of him.
