IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarence Martineau
Haynie
September 7, 1941 – November 3, 2024
Surrounded in love by his family, Clarence Martineau Haynie peacefully passed away, on November 3, 2024. Saving the best for last, Grandma's "baby boy" was born 09.07.1941 in Douglas, Arizona, and raised in the "Mormon colonies" in Chihuahua, Mexico.
In his teenage years, Clarence moved to Provo, Utah, where he eventually met and married his eternal companion, Barbara Sue Prior, on 08.11.1961. Though they had many adventures in Utah and Idaho, they settled and raised their family in Orem, Utah.
Raised in humble beginnings, Clarence developed a strong work ethic. This attribute blessed his family, as Clarence was an exemplary provider and a successful salesman. Clarence's family had clothes on their backs, a roof over their heads, and food in their tummies. Most importantly, his family knew that they were safe and loved by their Heavenly Father.
Clarence worked for Keebler, Old Home Bread Company, and Clover Club. The amount of driving during his sales career provided a smooth transition to working in the transportation department for the Alpine School District. He drove party enthusiasts to Wendover and tourists visiting West Yellowstone with the company Le Bus.
Dynamic in his talents, Clarence was a good listener, advice giver, and secret keeper. He was often told, "Don't tell Mom," and if he found it necessary, he only told her "need to know" information. Clarence knew what a person needed so that they felt heard and loved. Because of this talent, Clarence gained admiration and respect from many. Clarence became others' big brother, pop, confident, and best friend.
Clarence had an unwavering testimony of his Savior. Not always the popular vote by others, and sometimes being the fun ruiner, Clarence often said, "I won't do it if it doesn't please the Lord." Clarence made many decisions that didn't always make sense at the time. However, things always worked out perfectly because Clarence trusted the Savior's guidance through prayer. Clarence also had a strong conviction of power in the priesthood. Clarence happily changed his clothes at any opportunity to stand in our Savior's presence and bless any weary soul. His children were often lucky recipients of a father's blessing at the beginning of every school year or when faced with perils in life. Everything always seemed to work out.
Clarence was an aged man when he passed and was preceded in death by many. The most important being his loving wife. Along with his posterity, Clarence is survived by his big little sister, Alma Ann.
A private graveside burial will be held within the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. Memories and condolences may be sent to Walker Sanderson Funeral Home in Orem, UT.
