Clarence Irwin Moon 1929-2018 Our dear husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather successfully completed his earthly mission and accepted his next mission call into eternity on October 10, 2018. He was at home with his dedicated wife at his side. Clarence was born on December 23, 1929, in Mesa, Arizona to Charles and Beth Moon. The little family moved to Mar Vista when Clarence was six years old before moving to Orem, Utah in 1946. Dad graduated from Lincoln H.S. and in 1949 served his first mission to Brazil. Upon returning home, he graduated from BYU and married his beautiful Ann Taylor in the Salt Lake Temple. They have been wed for 65 years. Clarence taught in the Provo School District from 1958 to 1987. He loved his students and left a lasting impression to the point of being recognized on vacations, in stores, and even in the hospital. Clarence Moon was and is a faithful and dedicated missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He will be lovingly remembered as a strong family man, humble, honest, and we will sorely miss his physical presence. Clarence enjoyed family vacations all around Utah and from states coast to coast. Our most favorite vacation was the four-year family mission to Brazil, where dad was called to build chapels for the first three years and then to oversee the building of chapels throughout South America. Mom and Dad left with four children and returned with five! Yes, mom had baby Carol while on their mission. Dad was an avid BYU sports fan. From football to basketball and to supporting the BYU women's volleyball team. His baseball team was the L.A. Dodgers. He was a voracious reader, enjoyed fishing, bowling, and building homes during summers. He enjoyed gardening and spending time at their cabin. Which still is the family's favorite getaway. Clarence was a temple worker for years. He was ordained a temple sealer on his last mission to the São Paulo, Brazil temple, and had the opportunity to seal five of his grandchildren's marriages in five different temples. He served in every church position, including Relief Society President for a short time on his first mission! He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Moon, his daughters Catherine Petersen and Ellen Page, his son Gregory T. Moon, and son Melvin Taylor. He was preceded in death by his son, John I. Moon, daughter Carol Ann Moon, his parents Beth and C.I. Moon, and sister Lucille (Que) Steele. He is also survived by his 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews. As dad's family, we wish to thank his wonderful hospice home health nurses Jared and Graciea for their gentle care, and Anna from Aspen Home Health Care, for being the best aide to both parents. We thank and acknowledge Walker Sanderson funeral home for their respectful and tender care of our father. Also, the Orem City police officers and paramedics for their compassion at a very difficult time in our lives. We are grateful for our father's influence in our lives and that of so many others. We are grateful for the loving outreach from so many desiring to share their support and love for our family. Family and friend may visit Sunday, October 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Lakeridge Stake Center located at 158 E. 1100 S. Orem, Ut. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 15th at 11:00 AM at the same location with a viewing prior to the funeral service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.walkersanderson.com .
