Obituary

Clark E. Varney, beloved husband and father, of Orem, Utah passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 20, 2023. He was born on February 24, 1933 to LeRoy and Paza Maud Clark Varney in McGill, NV. He graduated from White Pine County High School in 1953 in Ely, NV where he drove the school bus for athletic events beginning at the age of 16.

He was a proud veteran who served his country in the Army, stationed in Germany, from 1953 to 1955. He married the love of his life, Mildred Uvonne Edwards, in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 24, 1956. He then graduated from Central Utah Vocational School where he learned the welding trade that supported his family until he retired from PDM Steel Company at the age of 65.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many church callings including counselor in the Bishopric, YM President and as Membership Clerk for over 20 years. After retirement, he served for three years, with his wife, as a Service Missionary at the Church Cannery in Lindon, UT.

Clark was deeply devoted to his family and took the time to attend the many various events of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his yard and was always willing to help with chores in the home. He had a great sense of humor. He was always welcoming and kind to friends and family and made you feel loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Paza Varney; brothers, Dean Varney, and Bill Varney; sisters, Muriel Varney and Beverly Ann Sandberg; grandson, Matthew Clark Valentine and two great-granddaughters, Cierra Lynn Barker and Elaine Lee Barker.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mildred Uvonne Varney, five children: Leslie (Rob) Valentine of Woodland, CA; Cathy (Dan) Gleason of Mapleton, UT; Glenna (Dan) England of Las Vegas, NV; Cindy (Scott) Chandler of Orem, UT and David (Wendy) Varney of Salem, UT. He has 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

A Viewing will be held on February 3, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Sharon Park Stake Center, 85 E 700 N, Orem, Utah. Services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Orem City Cemetery.
