Obituary

On Saturday, October 30, 2021, Clifton Vern Pyne of American Fork, Utah, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 74.

Vern was born in Provo, Utah on August 11, 1947, to Clifton Morris and Clara Louise "Peggy" (Loveless) Pyne. He is the proud brother to four younger sisters. Vern is a graduate of Orem High School where he participated in student government and athletics. While attending Orem High, Vern met his sweetheart Nancy Lynn Adams Pyne. Vern graduated from Brigham Young University where he studied business and played volleyball. Vern and Nancy married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 8, 1968 and are the parents of five children.

Over the years, they made their home in several states and returned to Utah in 2011. Vern was a proud Utahn and is the descendent of "Mormon" pioneers. Vern and Nancy frequently met people from all walks of life and made a big impression on the communities they lived in. Vern and Nancy were a force for good and never met a stranger, making an effort to help everyone feel loved. The world will miss Vern's sense of humor and good nature. He was a light-hearted straight shooter who had a special gift of making people smile and feel loved. He was the best example of Christlike love and always looked to serve others.

Throughout his career, Vern worked in sales and marketing leadership roles. His most recent position was working for his son, Dusty, as the marketing director of the Lehi Pointe and American Fork Chick-fil-A restaurants. Vern was heavily involved in his community and was loved by many. Vern was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently in many callings within the church, including three times as a Bishop, serving in Stake Presidencies, and working with the youth. As a young man, Vern served as a missionary in the Western Canadian Mission. We are grateful for the knowledge of eternal families and that we will all be reunited one day. Family was Vern's greatest pride and joy. He was the biggest supporter of all that his children and grandchildren pursued. He was the best dad and grandpa anybody could ask for.

He is survived by his children, Nannette (Darin) Newbry of Kennewick, WA; Clifton Lynn (Christine) Pyne of Hilltown, PA; Amy (Ken) Morgan of Holly Springs, NC; Melissa (Marco) Delgado of Dublin, Ireland: and Dustin Adams (Crystal) Pyne of Highland, UT; 17 grandchildren; six grandchildren by marriage, and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind three sisters, Sandra (Ken) Evans, Debbie (Mark) Veteto, and Pam Pyne.

Vern is preceded in death by his beloved Nancy, with whom he shared a happy life with for nearly 50 years, his father Clifton Morris Pyne, mother Peggy Pyne, sister Cindy Pyne, father-in-law Richard Louis Adams, mother-in-law Naomi Adams, and other precious extended family members.
