Obituary

Connie Stringham Tohara, 73, is at peace and returned home to her Heavenly Father on October 13, 2023. She was born on March 2, 1950, in Blackfoot, ID, to Haven J. and Merle (Morris) Stringham. She is survived by her three children: daughter, Ruth (David) Mullins of Orem, UT; son, Keli (Christy) Tohara of Eagle Mountain, UT; daughter, Naomi (Nicholas) Masina of South Jordan, UT, along with 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Also, sisters Patricia (Ralph) Thompson of Tucson, AZ; Eileen Hancock of Idaho Falls, ID; Karen (Fred) Cowart of Rigby, ID; brothers H. Randall Stringham of Yelm, WA, and Ken (Kris) Stringham of Rigby, ID.

Connie attended Brigham Young University in 1969-70, where she studied Child Development and Family Relations/Psychology. After a year of college in Provo, Utah, she followed her parents to Hawaii and met and married Terrance J. Tohara. Returning to Utah in 1978, she began a career in medical transcription as she raised her three children. Throughout the years, her involvement in this field proved successful, as she eventually became a senior consultant and Director of Health Information at the University of Utah Hospital until she retired in 2018.

Connie will be remembered for her love of the Savior and dedication to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which she has been a lifelong member. Her strong faith and dedication to the church were evident in her fervent study of the scriptures and the wonderful example she set for her family. With a passion for genealogical research, she would dedicate many hours deep-diving into her own family history. Also, she was involved in indexing, which helped others connect to their family members who had passed on.

Connie loved to travel. Her favorite adventures included her trips to Europe, where she toured with family and friends. When she couldn't travel in person, she would do so by researching or reading a good book, which was also another favorite pastime of hers, as well as putting together puzzles picturing fun destinations. Also, she loved shopping at antique and home decor stores with her beloved sister. Because whether it be at a gathering or just a trip to the local gas station to get her favorite drink, she loved spending time with her family.

Connie spent her lifetime dedicated to helping others. Everyone who knew her will miss her bright smile, gentle spirit, and giving heart.

A private memorial will be held for Connie's family.

"Goodbyes are not forever.

Goodbyes are not the end.

They simply mean I'll miss you!

Until we meet again."

Aloha ʻOe.

We love you, Mom
