Conway Bruce Clayton was born on February 18, 1933, in Provo, Utah, to Isabella McBride and Clarence Donald Clayton. He grew up in Orem, Utah, attended Sharon Elementary School, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951. After high school, Conway began a career at Western Electric. In 1953, Conway entered the service and served in the Signal Corps. He was stationed at Fort Ord and San Luis Obispo in California, and in Augusta, Georgia. Conway was released from the service in March of 1955.

When he returned home from the service, Conway continued his career with Western Electric for 18 years. Then he transferred to Mountain Bell Phone Company and retired from there after 43 years of dedicated work. Deciding he was not quite done, Conway spent another two years working at WordPerfect.

Conway married the love of his life, Pauleen Crandall Clayton February 17, 1956. Together they were partners in everything, building both a beautiful life and a wonderful family. During their 70 years of marriage they were blessed with six children: Connie (Rod) Parker, Bruce (Sheila) Clayton, Bryce (Corinne) Clayton, Kath (Russ) Jensen, Brent (Tammy) Clayton, and Brad Clayton. Throughout the years their family grew to include 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Family was the cornerstone of Conway’s life. He held a deep love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always staying invested in their lives. He cared about the littlest details, and had a quiet, beautiful way of making each person feel uniquely loved and remembered.

Conway was a hardworking man who took immense pride in everything he did. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, including spending time in the apple orchard, tending to his garden, and watering the lawn. To his family, these everyday moments became some of their most treasured memories. He was one of the kindest and most gentle men you could know, and possessed a vibrant, fun side that his family will always cherish. Conway loved gathering everyone together for games, especially Marbles and Wizard. These lively sessions became the heart of family gatherings, filled with laughter, and plenty of friendly competition.

A man of faith and service, Conway faithfully fulfilled many Church callings and, alongside Pauleen, served several LDS Church missions. Their shared adventures continued into retirement, where they spent more than twenty years as snowbirds in St. George, enjoying the sunshine and making many happy memories together.

Conway Bruce Clayton passed away on June 28, 2026, in Orem, Utah, surrounded by his family and his loving wife. His life was full of faith, hard work, service, and deep devotion to his family, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of kindness, dedication, and love. Conway will be forever remembered for the way he asked about everyone, the pride he took in simple things, the games he played, the service he gave, and the love he shared so freely.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 481 E Center Street, Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment will follow at the Orem City Cemetery.
