IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Curtis Von
Allred
February 13, 1928 – February 29, 2024
Curtis Von Allred, beloved father and the rock of our family passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, February 29, 2024 in Provo Utah. He was 96 years old.
Curtis, or Von as his family called him was born in Spring City Utah to parents Curtis Delene Allred and Mamie Boyce Allred on February 13,1928 and as the story goes, was born right on the kitchen table. Dad had many stories of hijinks and mischief growing up on the farm in Spring City with his brother and sisters.
Von enlisted in the army out of high school and served our country faithfully with 23 years of active military service. He was also a Korean War veteran. While home on leave in 1950 he met Edice Allred at a dance at The Bungalow in Moroni Utah. They married in 1952 and made their life in the military. He was stationed in many countries around the world.
When he retired from the Military they settled in Provo Utah. Von worked in construction for many years and knew how to fix, or figure out how to fix anything. He would see something and could go home and figure out how to make whatever neat thing it was. Von was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many callings and continued to do temple work well into his 90s .
Later in life his wife Edice developed a neurological disorder that robbed her of her balance. Von was devoted to her and was her primary caregiver for many years. Their's was a true love story that lasted 70 years.
Curtis is survived by his 4 children Yvonne Allred Brakey, Teddy Sue Angus, David C. Allred, and Rebecca Lynn Kaltenback, his oldest sister Phyllis Lund, of Moroni UT as well as 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be performed on Saturday, March 9th at 11am in the Spring City Cemetery in Spring City Utah.
