Obituary

Taken from us too soon, we lay to rest our beloved father, grandfather, husband, and friend, Daniel O. Rodriguez, who passed away at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah, Tuesday, January 11th, 2022, at the young age of 60, surrounded by his wife and children. Dan was born December 7th, 1961, to Lazaro and Emma Rodriguez in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico. Dan spent his first 9 years of childhood in Mexico City until his family moved to Utah, which became his forever home. Dan joined his sister in Elmo, Utah, where he attended North Emery Junior High School. During this time, he unknowingly met the love of his life with whom he would later reconnect as his eternal companion. Dan attended Orem High School in 1980 where he played and developed a deep love of baseball and football. After graduation, Dan chose to serve an LDS mission, and was called to the Chicago Illinois North Mission where he shared his love of the gospel with many. Upon returning home, he couldn't wait any longer to marry his best friend and sweetheart, Elaine Wilson. They were sealed in the Jordan River Utah Temple February 12th, 1983. Dan devoted his life to the service of law enforcement, working 21 years with the Orem City Police Department. He found tremendous joy working as a D.A.R.E. officer and participating in the creation of the N.O.V.A. program. After retirement, he spent 19 years working as an Investigator for the State of Utah. The pride of Dan's life was his family which included his wife, five children and 9.333 grandchildren who loved him deeply. Dan is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughters, Dlayne (Clayton), Delynn (Kyle), Danielle (Nicholas), Dayna (Daniel) and son Dante (Rachael); Six siblings, Javier (Yolanda), Homero (Elma), Nora, Diana (Robert), Ricardo, and Hugo (Nanette). He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Alma, niece Michelle, brother-in-law Harold Brown, sister-in-law Margarita, and beloved nephew Brian. Dan will be missed immensely by his family for his unwavering dedication, selflessness, and endless guidance. Dan had a very strong and personal testimony of Jesus Christ and cherished his faith deeply. He treasured his family and his Savior every day of his life here on Earth and lived his faith to the fullest. Our family would like to express sincere gratitude to the nurses and doctors who worked tirelessly to bring our dad home. Although the battle was lost, we will always be grateful for their efforts. Please join us in celebrating Dan's life Friday, January 21st, at 11:00 am (pre-viewing from 9:45-10:45 am) at the Windsor Stake Center, 60 East 1600 North, Orem, UT.
