Obituary

Danielle Christiansen Butler returned to her heavenly parents March 7, 2019. She was born in Provo in 1938 to Herbert Christiansen and Georgie Gingell Christiansen. She married Ross "Rusty" Butler in 1963 in the Logan Utah Temple. Danielle graduated from Provo High School and attended BYU and the University of Oregon. She received an honorary doctorate degree from the Kyrgyz International University for her international work with women and children. Danielle served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central German Mission and with her husband in New York, and was a ward Relief Society president in Oregon, British Columbia, Virginia and Kansas. Also, she served in two stake Relief Society presidencies. She served as a temple worker in the Washington, DC Temple. Danielle was appointed Honorary Consul General of the Kyrgyz Republic for Utah and hosted its president and first lady for a visit in the state. She was active in international conferences and other activities that promoted the traditional roles of women and families. Danielle was a woman known for her integrity, clever sense of humor, compassion and service. She and her husband traveled to many countries of the world, befriending people of distinctive cultures. She helped organize and participated in numerous international conferences and seminars, including the "Women of the Mountains" series at Utah Valley University and Kyrgyzstan which brought distinguished women from around the world as participants. Danielle is survived by her husband Rusty, children Erin, Christian [Lara], Dalliene Jessop [Kevin], Rallet Abram, Nicole Butler and Tareq [Wendy]. She was preceded in death by her son York Craig and two infant grandsons. She leaves behind 36 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Rallet Lund and Michelle Jacobs. The family extends a special thanks to Intermountain Home Care and her nurse of many years, Melissa. The funeral is being arranged by Walker Sanderson of Orem and will be held (CORRECTION) Friday, March 15, 11 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center in Orem, 1660 N. 200 W. with a viewing, Thursday, March 14, 6 p.m. at Walker Sanderson, Orem, East 800 North. She will be laid to rest in the Orem Cemetery next to her son York.  Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.walkersanderson.com .
