IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darlene Marie
Thayer
May 25, 1938 – December 21, 2024
Darlene Marie Denison Thayer
May 25, 1938 – December 21, 2024
Darlene Marie Denison Thayer, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, great-grandmother and great great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, December 21, 2024, at the age of 86 in her home in Orem, Utah, where she was under the care of her Daughter Terrie Thayer, surrounded by her family.
Darlene was Born on May 25, 1938, to Ray and Melba Peterson Denison, in Royal ( Price) Utah.
Darlene was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Paul Ogier Thayer, who passed away in June 1989.
Darlene is survived by her two sisters, VaLynne Denison Thompson (Gerald), Mapleton, Utah and Bette Denison, Taylorsville Utah ;
Her children, Kelly (Kellie ) Thayer , Terrie Thayer , Steven (Kim) Thayer , Denise (Kenneth) Earl, and Bryan (Jackie ) Thayer; as well as her 26 grandchildren, one deceased grandchild, ( 64 ) great-grandchildren, one deceased and one great-great-grandchild.
Throughout her life, Darlene's greatest joy was sharing her love for the Savior with her family. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served an LDS mission in Nauvoo, Illinois,
2006- 2007.
Darlene was known for her exemplary leadership with the youth in the Mission Hills and San Fernando Ward. She's especially remembered for those early morning Road-Show practices.
Darlene and her husband Paul raised their children in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California, where she founded a daycare center in 1966, in their home, caring for up to 20 children a day alongside her own. After moving to Sandy, Utah, in 1980 she continued her dedication to nurturing children starting a new Daycare business until the passing of her husband in 1989.
At the age of 51, Darlene went to work at her Son's Company where he gave her the title "Corporate Mom" and worked there for the next ten years tending to the needs of the companies employees, from weddings to Birthday's. Darlene was in charge of the company's Christmas parties, Summer barbecues and weekly pot luck lunches.
Darlene was known for her many talents, including singing, music and dancing. Mostly she cherished her time spent with her children and grandchildren. She found great joy and fulfillment in her church callings throughout
her life and loved attending the Temple, weekly institute classes and participating in her book club.
One of her other gifts and talents was her daily thoughts and messages to her Children and their spouses.
Almost daily she would send a morning family group txt message. These messages were a constant reminder for each of us kids and our spouses expressing her Gratitude and love for the Savior, for us her children
and reminding each of us in her sweet loving way to just try a little harder and to do better in the world that day. Near the end, her words sometimes were almost poetic.
She was a constant reminder to have an attitude of gratitude. And if you were to ask her grandchildren what her favorite saying was, they all would probably say " my heart is singing"
In her final year, Darlene selflessly devoted countless hours to creating a family book journal for each of her children and their family. A labor of love she hoped to complete before this Christmas 2024. Despite facing challenges with her health, she completed her gift to each of her Children.
She never complained and was a shining example of unconditional love throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
All are invited to celebrate her life, January 4, 2025 at the Cascade 6th Ward building, 400 North 400 East, Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held at 9:30 am with Funeral services beginning at 11am.
