For those that cannot watch it live it will be available on Davids obituary page shortly after. ______________________________________________________________________ David O Draper, 63, of Orem, Utah, passed away in the hospital on Saturday, March 13th, 2021, from a cardiac embolism as a result of COVID-19. David was born in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Arvel and Darlene (Bitton) Draper on June 9th, 1957. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1975, where he excelled in track and cross country. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Antonio, Texas from 1976 to 1978. He married Nancy Jean Anderson in the Salt Lake City temple on July 5th, 1979. Together they have five children. David valued education and received his Associate's degree from Ricks College in 1979, his Bachelor's degree from Utah State University in 1981, his Master's degree from Brigham Young University in 1984, and his Doctorate at Northern Illinois University in 1988. He held a teaching position at both Northern Illinois University and Illinois State University. He and his family moved to Orem, Utah in 1992 when he accepted a teaching position as a Professor of Exercise Sciences for Brigham Young University, where he was currently employed upon his death. In 2014, David received the highest honor bestowed in the athletic training profession and was inducted into the National Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame. David loved his family, the gospel of Jesus Christ, education, and helping treat injuries of professional and collegiate athletes, family, friends and neighbors. He loved cross country skiing, running, biking, hiking, and snowshoeing. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his five children: Celeste (Morgan) Humphries, Michael (Kristin) Draper, Staci (Bradley) Clegg, Erin (Alan) Farnes, Ryan (Emilee) Draper; eleven grandchildren; his sister Patricia (Roland) Ogden, and his brother Larry (Deborah) Draper. Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East, 800 North, Orem, Utah. A visitation will be held prior to services, Friday, March 19, 2021, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Timpview &th Building, 1050 North 600 West, Orem with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. A Live Broadcast of services may be viewed starting at 11:00 a.m. at www.walkersanderson.com, where condolences and memories may be offered to the family. A huge thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Timpanogos Regional Hospital for their exceptional care. Particularly nurse Lauren who sat by him and talked with him to calm his breathing down the night before he passed.
