His life's journey, etched with devotion, kindness, and an unwavering love for those around him, touched countless lives and left an everlasting memory.
David, born on August 23, 1937, in the vibrant city of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2026, enveloped by the love and presence of his cherished family. His life's journey, etched with devotion, kindness, and an unwavering love for those around him, touched countless lives and left an everlasting memory on those fortunate enough to know him.
Son to Glenn Lynn and Erma Delilah Glines, David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dovie, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage January 15, 1960 and later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 23, 1960. Dovie passed in October 2017. Together, they nurtured a loving family, blessed with children Susan, Stephen, Julia, and James. David also faced the loss of his son Jeffrey, granddaughter Brittny, brother Donald, and sister Marilyn.
In March 2021, David found love again and married Ethelyn Potter, who survives him. He embraced a large blended family, welcoming Ethelyn's children Richard, Rebecca, Travis, Kimberly, Phillip, and Ashlee into his heart. His legacy extends through his 29 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and wisdom he imparted.
David graduated from South High School and furthered his education at the University of Utah, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. His commitment to service was evident in his military tenure, where he proudly served in the US Army and was stationed in Étain, France. After his military service, David dedicated over 30 years to the US Postal Service, retiring as the Director of Support Services.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, David's faith was a guiding force in his life. His passion for the outdoors was reflected in his love of camping, fishing, and in his younger years, hunting. Yet, it was on the golf course where he found true joy, often accompanied by friends and family.
David will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his humor, and his unwavering dedication to his family and faith. A man of integrity and warmth, he leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
On Friday October 30, 2026, Family and friends are invited to honor David's life at a viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., held at the Lakeridge 5th Ward Chapel located at 950 S 50 E in Orem, Utah. He will be laid to rest at the Orem City Cemetery at 1520 N. 800 E, Orem, Utah.
His life was a testament to love and service, and continuing that legacy through acts of kindness would be a fitting tribute to a life well-lived.
