IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David John
Wright
July 3, 1944 – July 26, 2023
David John Wright was born July 3, 1944 in Provo, Utah to John Mecham Wright and Bonnie Lavon Nielsen. He passed away in Provo, Utah on July 26, 2023, at 79 years old.
At a young age, David loved signing, dancing, and putting on plays. He joined Colleen Collins-Smith School of Dance, and danced for many years with his dear friend Colleen and her family. During this time, he met Carol Ann Christensen, who he would go on to marry in 1967.
Though they divorced in 1969, they remained good friends.
He worked for McDonald's as an Area Manager in Salt Lake before moving to Seattle to work for Pacific Northwest Bell, while
also working at Mr. Emile Hair Design. When Pacific Northwest Bell was broken up, he was transferred to Denver Flight Operations with the company being renamed US West.
After he retired, David took acting and singing classes and joined the Phamaly Theatre Company, an acting company with an emphasis on supporting artists with disabilities and inclusion. He met many people he would come to love there, and went on to perform in many
plays, even going with the company to Japan. He is remembered as a good friend, and a kind mentor to the younger members of the company.
He will be dearly missed by the many people whose lives he has touched, and is survived by his siblings; Brent C. Wright (Jeannean deceased), Robert N. Wright (Cathy deceased), Laurie A. (Jay) Montgomery, Cristina K. Lott, and 17 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his
parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Darrell L. (Peggy) Wright, his nephew Levi J. Wright, his paternal grandparents Charles and Julia Wright, and his maternal grandparents Lynn and Jennie Maude Nielsen.
He will be fondly remembered and honored at a Celebration of Life on September 16th at the Brewability, 3445 South Broadway, Englewood (Denver), Colorado. The Celebration will begin at 1pm.
