IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dawnette
Clegg
November 16, 1938 – October 3, 2025
Dawnette Schafer Clegg, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Bel Aire Assisted Living in American Fork, Utah. She was born on November 16, 1938, in Murray, Utah, to Arthur Jay Schafer and Ida Angel Millet. She was the second of nine children.
Dawnette grew up in Murray and graduated from Murray High School. She later married her eternal companion, Henry Vernon Clegg, and was sealed to him for time and all eternity, April 14, 1972, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love, raising six children: Dwayne (Michelle), Laura (Andy), Linda (Brian), Ronald, Carl (Courtnie), and Roger. She became a single mom when her husband passed away while her children were still young.
A faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dawnette dedicated her life to living the gospel and serving others. Completing a life long dream, she served two missions at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, where she found great joy in helping others discover their ancestors. Her love for family history was a lifelong passion, and she cherished the eternal connections it created. She had a gentle and kind spirit, always putting her family and her faith at the center of her life. She loved listening to and playing hymns, which brought her great joy and peace, and she also enjoyed playing Scrabble, where her quick mind and playful spirit shone. She treasured time with her children and grandchildren, celebrating family traditions, and supporting each of them in their journeys.
Dawnette will be remembered for her unwavering testimony, her selfless service, and her deep love for her eternal family. She is survived by 5 children, 31 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her legacy of love and faith. She is now reunited with her beloved eternal companion, her son Ronald, and other family members who preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 11, 2025, 12:00 pm in the Orchard First Ward, 670 East 800 North, Orem. Family and friends may visit that morning from 10:30-11:30 am at the church. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
