Dea
Miller
June 13, 1943 – March 9, 2026
Dea K Norton Miller, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, in Orem, Utah, surrounded by her family. Dea was born on June 13, 1943, to LaMar Norton and Velma Auleen Hullinger in Vernal, Utah. She attended both South and East High and the University of Utah.
In 1963, Dea met William David Miller. It was love at first sight, and within two weeks, they were engaged. They were married on March 14, 1963, in the Logan LDS temple. Dea and Dave enjoyed a wonderful life together, which would take them from Salt Lake City to the beaches of Florida, to Virginia, and finally back home to Utah. Along the way, they had five children: Kymberly (William Merrill), Jenny (Gary Ashcraft), Matthew, Michael (Laurie), and Lindsey (Ben Petersen). Dea was the grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, whom she adored.
Dea was the heart of her home. She kept our home immaculate, filling it with the scents of freshly baked bread and meals made entirely from scratch! She loved a good party and planned elaborate tea parties with her grandchildren and filled her home with festive decorations for every holiday. Dea had a deep and abiding testimony of Jesus Christ and taught each of her children to develop their own testimony of our Savior. Whether Dea was serving as Stake Young Women President or designing and building a float for the Days of 47 parade, she loved the Lord and served with her heart and soul. She always gave 110%, including supporting Dave in his demanding callings as Bishop, Stake President, and Stake Patriarch, during which she recorded and typed all the patriarchal blessings.
Following Dave's death in 2010, Dea learned to live more independently and mastered things she had never done before. We are proud of her tenacity during this time, as she desperately missed our dad.
As Dea's health declined, she moved to Covington Assisted Living three years ago. We are grateful to the Covington for their kind and compassionate care and for the friendships she developed there. We are also grateful to Ella and Heidi for the wonderful hospice care she received at the end of her life.
Dea is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with siblings Ra Layne Lundberg (David), DelMar Norton (Connie), Kordell Norton (Heidi), and Wade Norton (Debi). She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave, her parents, and siblings, Shauna (Buzz) Butler and Verdis (Bonnie) Norton.
A viewing will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 9:30 – 10:30, prior to the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 828 West 1600 North in Orem, Utah.
Interment at Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, UT. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Humanitarian Aid Fund at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
