Obituary for D. Briane Adams
Dee Briane Adams, age 77 of Snellville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2019. Born February 6, 1942 to Dee and Helen Adams in Provo, UT, Briane later married Julie "Dian" Herbert in Benjamin, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti, Utah temple. He always said that they were meant for each other as he had her missing "e." He is survived by his wife Dian; three children, Andrew (Susan), Sarah (Alex) and Aaron (Myriah); and eight grandchildren Layne, Rowan, Eden, Gavin, Justin, McKenzie, Josie, and Luke.
He loved his family and made it a goal to support them in their learning and achievement. Whether it was science projects and bridge building projects at school, pine wood derbies or eagle scout projects, piano recitals or cross country competitions; he made his children and grandchildren a priority. He enjoyed the outdoors- camping, fishing, hunting and restoring classic cars- pass times he used as an opportunity to stay close to his sons. He would often sit and listen to his daughter practice the piano, enjoying the classical music that she played.
Professionally, Briane worked many years for the U.S. Geological Survey as a hydrologist. He was drafted into the Vietnam War and served honorably as a military policeman in the Army. Upon returning from Vietnam he enrolled in the University of Utah, where he eventually graduated with a degree in civil engineering. He subsequently completed a graduate degree in hydrology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His work took he and his family from the west to the southeast where they ultimately have lived most of their lives.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he had the opportunity to serve in various capacities. He touched countless lives with his humor and love. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed serving a full-time mission in the Utah Salt Lake City Temple Square mission. He hoped that it would be said of him that he loved the Lord and was a good husband, father, and grandfather.
