IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delphia Wright
Colyar
October 30, 1922 – October 31, 2021
DELPHIA COLYAR
Sunday, October 31, 2021, one day after her 99th birthday, Delphia Wright Colyar slipped gently away and returned to her Heavenly Father. Her eldest grandson, David Colyar Jr. was at her side.
Delphia was born October 30, 1922 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Alma and Sabra Wright. She was the youngest of 5 daughters before the family got their only boy, baby Joseph. She is the last of her family to pass.
Justin Pierson Colyar proposed to her in January 1938, and they were married on June 29, 1938. Eleven months later she and Justin were blessed with the first of five sons: Justin Jr. (Jay), David, Kenneth, Monty, and Randy. They raised their children primarily in Orem where she was active in church and community affairs.
Delphia worked at First Security Bank in Orem for over 20 years and served as the national president of an employee organization, associated with her husband's work, with a membership of 5000. She was always a very active person and enjoyed travel, boating, bowling and golfing with her friends, of which she had many. BYU sports and Utah Jazz were always on her TV watch list. She hardly ever missed a ball game of her husband, sons and grandsons (and we're talking between 4-5000 ballgames over a 70 year period).
Her husband, Justin and sons Jay and Randy preceded her in death. She was later married to John Dennis for 24 years.
She is survived by her sons David, Kenneth (Amy) and Monty (Cheryl), 17 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 37 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at WalkerSanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm with viewing starting at 11:30 am. Delphia will be buried in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Provo, Utah. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.walkersanderson.com.
