"Denzel Dean Ferguson, known affectionately as Dean, passed away on June 5, 2024, in Payson, Utah.
Born on June 13, 1937, in Floral, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Velma Lucille Bailey and Paul Henry Ferguson I.
Dean was an incredible musician, playing the guitar from the ages 14 to 37. He played with his band in multiple venues, the largest crowd containing 5000 people. His very first job though, was as a doorman at his local movie theatre at the age of 12. He lived in Arkansas for most of his childhood before moving to California at the age of 17.
Dean proudly served in the United States Army active duty for 6 months at Fort Ord California and 8 years Active Reserve at Camp Roberts.
Dean and his family of 3 moved to Mona, Utah in November of 1977 and then American Fork, Utah in 1979, and from then he dedicated 22 years to the Alpine School District.
In 1963 he married Glenda Halford, and together they shared a son, Paul (Teresa) Ferguson. Dean was a devoted husband and father, and his family was the cornerstone of his life.
Dean was an avid reader, enjoyed photographing his family, fishing, riding his four-wheeler, and spending time at the lake near his home. He was known for his quick wit, and love for storytelling. Dean cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.
Dean was predeceased by his parents, his wife Glenda, his son Paul, his brother James (Mildred) Owen and his sister Otta (John) England. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his 4 grandchildren: Justin Ferguson, Brandon Ferguson, Dillon (Whitney) Ferguson, Shontae (Richard)
Bellford, 10 incredible great grandchildren and his beloved cat, Prince.
Denzel Dean Ferguson will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend. His laughter, stories, wisdom, and the warmth of his company will be deeply missed by all who knew him."
